What To Check / Do Before Calling A Repair Technician
Doing some of these checks yourself helps clarify what’s wrong (so you can get better quotes) and sometimes may fix the issue without needing repair:
-
Check error codes if your washing machine digital display shows one; note them down.
-
Inspect hoses & connections for visible leaks.
-
Clean filter / linttrap; check if drain hose is blocked or kinked.
-
Check door seal or gasket for damage.
-
See if load is balanced (uneven load can cause shaking, not spinning).
-
Try a reset (turn off machine, unplug/turn off breaker, wait a few minutes, then power on).
-
If machine doesn’t power on, check power socket / power supply / fuse.
What You Should Ask the Repair Shop / Technician
To avoid surprises and ensure good service, ask these questions:
-
Diagnostic fee / site visit fee: What is it, and is it waived if I take the repair?
-
Brand of parts: Are parts genuine (OEM) or generic/aftermarket?
-
Warranty: How long guarantee on parts and labor?
-
Turnaround time: How soon can they attend, and how long will parts replacement take?
-
Extra charges: Are there extra fees for emergency / weekend / overtime?
-
Cost breakdown: Labor + parts + any travel fees.
-
Previous experience with your brand/model: Make sure they have done repairs for your machine’s brand.
